How I found myself in a psychiatric hospital due to drug addiction – Crayon

by Admin

Nigerian singer Charles Chibuezechukwu, better known as Crayon, has shared his past struggle with drug addiction.

The ‘Ngozi’ singer revealed that he nearly lost his life and ended up in a psychiatric hospital.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, Crayon recalled a disturbing episode outside his record label’s office, where his colleague, Rema, stepped in to help.

He explained, “One day, my manager saw me and was shocked by my state. When he asked what was wrong, I told him I’d only smoked weed. Then I started acting erratically. I began walking barefoot to Mavin studio. I honestly feel like I’m God’s favourite because no one filmed me during that moment. If they had, it could’ve destroyed my confidence and career.

“When I reached the Mavin studio gate, I sat there exhausted. I took off my shirt, smashed my iPhone, and then calls started flooding in. Rem called, BabyFresy called, everyone was shouting, asking what was wrong. I just kept saying I was tired.

“Rema showed up with a stick, ready to defend me. I was lying on his lap, and he told me, ‘Bro, trust me, once you get through this, you’ll come out stronger. This is the final battle you need to win.’

“Though I couldn’t recognise anyone, I remember those words. Things got so bad that I almost jumped out of a moving car. It was as chaotic as Mohbad’s situation.

“They eventually took me to a psychiatric hospital in Lekki. It was a deep experience, but after everything, I made it back and even went to Don Jazzy’s house.”
