Former Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has criticised the club following another delay in their return to the Camp Nou.
The Catalan giants announced on Friday that they would not be able to return to their historic stadium as previously planned, sparking frustration among fans and former officials alike.
Font took aim at the current Barça leadership, accusing them of misleading supporters with unrealistic timelines and failing to manage expectations responsibly.
Barcelona had intended to mark their return to Camp Nou with the Joan Gamper Trophy on August 10. However, a statement released on the club’s official website confirmed that the plan had been scrapped due to their failure to obtain the necessary licence.
Reacting to the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), Font didn’t hold back in his criticism.
“Incredible that, being the best club in the world, we make a fool of ourselves with constant unfulfilled promises,” he wrote. “There’s no need to toy with the expectations of Barcelona fans in this way…”
He described the situation as another example of poor planning and wishful thinking from the club’s management.
