More than 11 million fans have attended Major League Soccer (MLS) games this season, as announced by the league on Monday. This breaks the previous record of 10.9 million fans set in 2024.
The league reported an average attendance of 23,240 fans per game, surpassing the 11 million mark for the first time in history.
MLS attributed this surge in attendance to the arrival of international stars like Lionel Messi, whose participation has often led teams to move matches to larger stadiums.
“The influx of international stars and the efforts of clubs to offer more unique, fan-friendly ticket packages and game-day experiences are key factors driving the record-breaking attendance across MLS,” the league stated.
Notably, this record comes with the regular season still ongoing, with 16 more matches scheduled before the season concludes on October 19.
This marks the third consecutive year that MLS has attracted over 10 million fans.
