Victor Osimhen’s future at Napoli has become increasingly uncertain following Napoli’s €30m agreement with Chelsea to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to Punch Sports Extra.
Despite discussions about potentially extending Osimhen’s stay at Napoli, the arrival of Lukaku—a target long pursued by former Chelsea coach Antonio Conte—has cast doubt on Osimhen’s position. Osimhen’s impressive performance in the 2023/24 season made him a top transfer target, but with just a week remaining in the transfer window, his prospects appear dim.
Paris Saint-Germain, initially interested in Osimhen as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, have since withdrawn. Chelsea had shown interest but preferred a loan arrangement, which Osimhen’s camp rejected. The possibility of joining Chelsea remains, but it hinges on the club either purchasing him outright or agreeing to a loan with reduced wages.
Manchester United briefly considered Osimhen early in the transfer window, but their interest never translated into a serious offer. Arsenal, who were also linked with him, have ruled out a move, with manager Mikel Arteta expressing confidence in his current squad.
With his future at Napoli seemingly resolved, Osimhen might explore options in the Saudi Pro League, where clubs like Al Qadsiah, Al Ahli, and Al Hilal have shown interest. Al Hilal previously made a significant offer that Osimhen turned down last summer.
Napoli’s willingness to invest €30 million in Lukaku—who will turn 31 in May—reflects their urgency to replace Osimhen. The club aims to bolster their squad following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Hellas Verona in their Serie A opener last week.
