Police in Helsinki launch investigation into aggravated sexual offenses against minors

The Helsinki police have launched investigation over a suspected serious sexual crimes that took place in July 2021, in connection with which the Helsinki District Court has arrested three people on July 21, 2021.

The report from the Police website indicates that one person has been imprisoned for probable reasons on suspicion of aggravated child rape and aggravated child sexual abuse. Another person has been jailed on suspicion of probable causes for two aggravated rapes. A third person has been imprisoned on suspicion of aggravated child sexual abuse. 

Three detainees of aggravated sexual offenses against three minor victims are suspects according to the Police. All persons involved in the cases are known to the police. The suspected crimes under investigation are related both temporally and locally. In order to protect the privacy of juvenile victims, the police do not provide other additional information about suspected crimes at the beginning of the investigation, says Marja Väätti, Director of Investigation, Crime Commissioner.

The preliminary investigation is set to be completed before October 26, 2021 which is the deadline for filing charges.
