Popular Nigerian content creator, Mark Angel, has opened up about his struggles in 2024, revealing he lost $3.7 million in forex trading, leaving him overwhelmed by debt.
In an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, Mark Angel shared that the loss marked one of the darkest periods of his life. He described how loan sharks seized his properties, and the mounting debt left him feeling hopeless and on the brink of despair.
As he began healing through therapy, another major blow hit his career—a scandal that not only tested his resilience but also revealed the true nature of those around him. Mark said the experience exposed fake friends and pretenders while strengthening his faith and drawing him closer to God.
He expressed deep gratitude to his support system, including his family, pastor, ex-wife, daughters, and social media manager, who stood by him through the trying times.
Mark wrote, “2024 started like any other year, but I had no idea how much it would test me, break me, and ultimately reshape me. It was the year I lost everything. I trusted the wrong people in forex and ended up losing over $3.7 million. Nobody knew except my family and closest circle. The weight of the loss was unbearable. I was drowning in debt, and one by one, I watched my properties slip into the hands of loan sharks. I felt like my world was crumbling, and in my darkest moments, I even considered ending it all.
“But God… If not for His mercies, I wouldn’t be here. He sent angels into my life when I needed them most. Blessing, my friend turned family, never gave up on me. My pastor and his wife prayed and guided me. My daughters, Victoria and Mila, reminded me of the beauty of life, even when I thought it was unbearable. My ex-wife Mandy showed me kindness I’ll never forget. My son, Schoolboy, displayed incredible strength, and Bright, my social media assistant, became a pillar of support when I was ready to collapse.
“While I was still trying to heal, undergoing therapy to recover from the trauma, life dealt another blow—a scandal that shook my career to its core and exposed the truth about those around me. It was in that storm that God began revealing the fake friends and pretenders who had been silently sabotaging my peace. It was painful, but it was necessary.
“2024 was the hardest year of my life, but it was also the year God drew me closer to Him. Through the ashes, He taught me resilience, faith, and the true meaning of grace. I don’t take it for granted that I’m alive today. To everyone who stood by me, prayed for me, and lifted me up when I had no strength left, thank you.
“Here’s to God’s unwavering faithfulness. If 2024 taught me anything, it’s that even in the darkest valleys, His light never stops shining.”
