International musical star Divine Ikubor, known as Rema, has donated ₦150 million to Christ Embassy Church in Benin City, Edo State.
Rema, who was in the state for the Edo@33 celebrations, including the groundbreaking ceremony for the 6,000-capacity Edo Dome and a concert at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, made the donation to the church’s Edo Regional Headquarters on Erediauwa Street, off Ekenwa Road.
The donation is a gesture of gratitude for the church’s support during a challenging period in his childhood. Rema reflected on how the church helped his family after the death of his father when he was eight years old.
“I’m here not for personal recognition but to give glory to God,” Rema said. “The church embraced us, prayed for us, and kept my spirit strong. When we lost everything, Pastor Joy and Pastor Thomas opened a shop for my mother, which helped us survive.”
In his pledge, Rema allocated ₦40 million for the church’s infrastructural development, ₦20 million for the Rhapsody of Realities publication, and ₦25 million for the teen church. He also pledged ₦20 million to assist widows in attendance.
