Hearn backs Joshua to knock out Dubois.

by Admin

Anthony Joshua aims to stay on track for a third heavyweight title if he can overcome a revitalised Daniel Dubois.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter and Matchroom Boxing chairman, is confident Joshua will shine in the clash. Joshua, 34, will face the 26-year-old Dubois in an all-British heavyweight bout for the IBF heavyweight title at Wembley Stadium on September 21. With a record of 28-3 (25 KOs), Joshua has the chance to reclaim one of the three titles he previously held. Dubois, now upgraded from interim to full IBF titleholder, holds a record of 21-2 (20 KOs).

“This is a massive fight,” Hearn said on DAZN. “Both fighters are at their best, with peak confidence. Dubois is a very dangerous opponent, but AJ looks sensational. I believe he’ll knock him out in style.”

Since losing his unified titles to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021 and then losing a rematch, Joshua has won his last four fights, defeating Jermaine Franklin Jr., Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin, and Francis Ngannou.

The build-up to the fight has been marked by tension between Joshua and Dubois, a factor Hearn believes will drive Joshua to deliver a standout performance.

“Absolutely,” Hearn added. “Joshua is always motivated, but with this added friction, there’s an extra edge. This is a chance for AJ to become a three-time world heavyweight champion on a huge stage.”

Dubois, meanwhile, is looking to rebound from his defeat to Usyk in August of last year. Since then, he has secured TKO victories over Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic.

On September 21, Dubois will seek his second world title bid against one of the heavyweight division’s top names. Hearn expects an exceptional performance from Joshua.

“Both fighters are at the peak of their careers, and their confidence is sky-high,” Hearn said. “This should be an incredible night of boxing.”
