Baltasar Engonga, former Director-General of Equatorial Guinea’s National Financial Investigation Agency, has been detained at Malabo’s Black Beach Prison. The arrest follows allegations that he recorded over 400 sex tapes involving wives of influential figures in the country.
During a recent fraud investigation, ANIF officials searched Engonga’s home and office, discovering numerous CDs that reportedly showed encounters with various married women. As footage leaked online, President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo dismissed Engonga, citing “irregularities” and “inappropriate conduct.”
In a court appearance, Engonga was seen handcuffed, confirming reports from French blog Afrikmatin and online newspaper UGStandard. He now faces charges of corruption and embezzlement.
