Nigeria’s oldest Catholic priest, Thomas Oleghe, has passed away at the age of 104.
In a statement issued by Gabriel Dunia, Bishop of Auchi, it was revealed that Oleghe died at around 2:30 am on Sunday, November 24, 2024. His funeral will take place on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
The statement reads: “With gratitude to God for a life well lived, I regret to inform you of the passing of Rt. Rev. MSGR Thomas Oleghe, the oldest Catholic priest in Nigeria, who departed this world at approximately 2:30 am today, November 24, 2024.
“He was a member of the Diocese of Auchi, and at the time of his death, he was 104 years old. May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace. Amen.
“We have decided to hold his funeral on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.”
