Nine-time African champions, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, arrived in Angers, France, on Wednesday ahead of their highly anticipated international friendly against Les Bleues this Saturday.
This marks the second friendly encounter between the two teams. The first match took place on April 6, 2018, at Stade Marie-Marvingt in Le Mans, where the Falcons suffered an 8-0 defeat.
Of that 2018 squad, only goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who plays in France, and Mexico-based defender Osinachi Ohale remain.
In FIFA World Cup history, the Falcons have also faced Les Bleues twice, losing narrowly by a single goal in Germany in 2011 and again at Roazhon Park during the 2019 World Cup in France.
This friendly comes as part of the NFF’s efforts to strengthen the team after a disappointing performance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament in France earlier this year.
