Former Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, has revealed that he was offered performance-enhancing drugs during his time at Chelsea.
He made this disclosure after Chelsea star Mykhailo Mudryk failed a drugs test on Tuesday and was provisionally suspended by the Football Association.
Following the suspension, the Ukrainian international issued a statement claiming he had “not done anything wrong.”
In response, Mikel Obi shared his thoughts on the Obi One Podcast, stating that Mudryk is innocent until proven guilty. He said, “For him (Mudryk) and his family, I hope he is innocent. I remember when we were playing, if someone offered me something, I would ask what it was.”
Mikel continued, “I’m responsible for what I put in my body, what I eat, and stuff like that. People around you—friends or friends of friends—will tell you that this will help you perform better. But I always ask, ‘What is this? Is it legal?’ I tell them to go away; I don’t want to talk about it. We must take responsibility for our actions and what we consume. But for now, Mudryk is innocent until proven guilty.”
