British boxer Tyson Fury announces his retirement from boxing.

British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury has officially announced his retirement from boxing, declaring he is “hanging up his gloves” at the age of 36.

In a video shared on his Instagram, Fury expressed his gratitude for his career, saying, “I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It’s been a blast. I’ve loved every single minute of it, and I’m going to end with this – Dick Turpin wore a mask!”

Fury, a former world champion, has a history of retiring and then making comebacks. After defeating Dillian Whyte in 2022, he announced his retirement but later returned to the ring that same year.

His latest decision follows speculation about his future in the sport, especially after his rematch loss to heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk in December. Just days ago, reports surfaced that Wembley Stadium had been reserved for a potential summer fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Sky News sports correspondent Rob Harris commented on the announcement, noting Fury’s pattern of returning after retirement declarations. “He’s done this before. In 2022, he was lured back, so is this truly the end for Tyson Fury at 36?” Harris said. “If it is, he has had one of the great British heavyweight boxing careers, but you can’t ignore that he often finds the lure of the ring irresistible.”

Harris also highlighted the financial appeal of high-profile bouts, like Fury’s recent fight with Usyk, which could influence his decision. “Fights like this are incredibly lucrative, so the financial incentive might be too strong to resist,” he added.

This announcement mirrors Fury’s 2022 retirement when he claimed he was done with boxing after his third match with Deontay Wilder. At the time, he stated, “I’ve been in this game 20 years. I’m 34 in a few months. I said the third Wilder fight would be my last, but I owed the fans one last homecoming. This is definitely the end of the Gypsy King, and I went out with a bang.”
