Super Eagles and Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has described former Nigerian international Austine Okocha as his biggest idol.
Iwobi’s impressive performances this season with Fulham—where his ability to thrive under pressure and showcase his skills echoes the lessons he learned from his uncle Okocha—have caught the eye of many.
During an interview on the Is This Seat Taken? podcast, Iwobi spoke about the significant impact Okocha has had on his football career.
“In sports, he’s forever my uncle, Jay Jay Okocha. I have to shout him out all the time, on and off the field,” he said.
“I used to watch his matches and training sessions; he’s the one who really taught me how to express myself. Off the pitch, he’s always advising me on how to be professional, manage my money, how to move, and stay humble and grounded. So he will always be my idol,” added the former Arsenal player.
