China has strongly condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to clear out the people of Gaza from their homeland.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun criticised Trump’s stance during a news conference, stating that Gaza is not part of the United States. He emphasised that Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and should not be used as a political bargaining chip.
“Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. It is an inalienable part of the territory of Palestine, not a bargaining chip for political games,” Jiakun said.
He further stressed that Palestine should not fall victim to the powerful, pointing out the devastation and suffering caused by the ongoing war. He urged the international community, especially major nations, to work together in providing humanitarian aid and assisting in Gaza’s reconstruction rather than worsening the crisis.
China reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people, emphasising that Palestinians should govern Palestine. Jiakun also opposed any forced displacement of Gaza’s residents.
He added that China is willing to work with the international community to achieve a two-state solution, which he described as the fundamental path forward. He reiterated China’s support for an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty, based on the 1967 borders and with East Jerusalem as its capital.
