Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after sustaining a groin injury, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The French international suffered the injury during Madrid’s 1-0 La Liga victory over Getafe on Wednesday.
“Following tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a complete rupture of the left adductor tendon,” the club said in an official statement.
Spanish media report that the 22-year-old will miss Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona, as well as Madrid’s last five league games as they attempt to close the gap on their Catalan rivals. There are also concerns that Camavinga could miss this summer’s Club World Cup in the United States, with recovery expected to take approximately three months.
This season, Camavinga has struggled for consistency, despite being instrumental in Madrid’s La Liga and Champions League success last year.
