Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service confirmed on Monday that five people were killed and 92 others wounded following Iran’s latest missile strikes, raising the previous death toll of four.
According to the MDA, the casualties resulted from strikes on four separate locations in central Israel. Among the dead were two women and two men, all around the age of 70, as well as one additional unidentified fatality.
“So far, MDA teams have evacuated 92 injured individuals to hospitals, including a 30-year-old woman in serious condition with facial injuries, six in moderate condition, and 85 with minor injuries,” the statement said.
Rescue operations are still underway at two of the affected sites.
The attack came after Israel launched strikes on military targets deep within Iran. In response, Iran fired a barrage of missiles at Israeli cities early Monday. Both nations have issued warnings of further escalation.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz warned that residents of Tehran would “pay the price” for attacks targeting Israeli civilians.
