Prince Al Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, widely known as the “Sleeping Prince,” has died after spending more than 20 years in a coma caused by a tragic car accident.
Born in April 1990, he was the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, a notable member of the Saudi royal family and nephew of billionaire Prince Al Waleed bin Talal.
In 2005, at just 15 years old and training as a military cadet in London, Prince Al Waleed was involved in a serious road accident that resulted in severe brain injuries and internal bleeding. Despite extensive treatment from leading medical experts in the U.S. and Spain, he never regained full consciousness.

For more than two decades, Prince Al Waleed remained in a minimally conscious state. Occasional involuntary movements gave moments of hope, and his father, Prince Khaled, stood by him throughout—rejecting suggestions to end life support and holding firmly to his faith in divine healing.
The family often shared heartfelt videos of the prince subtly responding to Quranic recitations, which touched the hearts of many and earned widespread public sympathy and admiration.
His passing at a specialised medical facility in Saudi Arabia prompted an outpouring of grief across the nation. The hashtag #SleepingPrince quickly trended on social media, as thousands paid tribute to him as a symbol of unwavering faith, patience, and a father’s enduring love.
Over the years, his hospital room became a place of spiritual reflection, where visitors came to pray and show support. His life journey stood as a powerful reminder of medical endurance, deep family devotion, and the strength of faith.
