Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Viktor Gyökeres following the striker’s official unveiling on Saturday.
The Gunners had been in the market for a new frontman this summer, with names like RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins linked. But the club ultimately opted for Gyökeres, securing him in a deal worth €63.5 million plus €10 million in add-ons.
Arteta expressed his excitement over the signing, saying:
“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Viktor Gyökeres to the club. The consistency he has shown in his performances and availability have been outstanding, and his goal contributions speak for themselves.
“Viktor has so many qualities. He’s quick, powerful, and clinical in front of goal. His movement in the box and ability to convert chances make him a constant threat. We’re excited about what he brings to the team and can’t wait to start working with him.”
