New Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres ‘called to testify as a witness in a trial in Sweden’

by Admin

Arsenal’s new striker, Viktor Gyokeres, has been summoned to testify as a witness in a high-profile court case in Sweden.

The case stems from a defamation suit filed by his representative, Hasan Cetinkaya, against Swedish outlets Fotboll Sthlm and Expressen. Both publications alleged that Cetinkaya and his agency, HCM Sports Management, had links to organised crime groups.

Last month, reports revealed that police were investigating gunshots fired at the home of a relative of one of Gyokeres’ agents in Huddinge, near Stockholm. Authorities suspect the incident could be tied to Gyokeres’ transfer, after claims the relative boasted about receiving part of the transfer fee.

Swedish police have previously raised concerns about organised criminals attempting to infiltrate professional football to exploit players and agents.

It has now been confirmed that Gyokeres will appear as a witness in the defamation trial, where he will testify about a childhood friend allegedly connected to the case.

Cetinkaya’s lawyer, Joakim Lundqvist, stated that the striker will be questioned on “specific circumstances” in the evidence.

The original investigation by Expressen and Fotboll Sthlm suggested that individuals with ties to organised crime were involved in talent recruitment for HCM. Cetinkaya has strongly denied the claims, insisting he built his career without criminal influence.

Gyokeres is expected to clarify that while the individual at the centre of the allegations is his childhood friend, they have no professional or personal ties to Cetinkaya or HCM Sports Management.

The trial is set for February 4–11, 2026, at Stockholm District Court.
