Transgender personality Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has opened up about the journey that led to his decision to transition.
In a revealing interview, the internet sensation shared that his initial foray into crossdressing was as a marketing tactic during his time selling unisex clothing while studying at the University of Lagos.
During a candid conversation with the unconventional musician Charly Boy, Bobrisky admitted that he hadn’t anticipated his experimentation with crossdressing evolving into a transgender identity.
“About nine years ago,” he recounted, “I was studying Accounting at the University of Lagos. Alongside my studies, I was also running a business selling unisex clothes. I found myself trying on the female garments often, and I grew fond of the outfits.”
“As I incorporated more feminine elements like hairstyles and makeup into my business, I noticed increased interest and patronage from women. This encouraged me to continue crossdressing as it proved to be financially rewarding,” Bobrisky explained.
“At first, I didn’t imagine it would become a long-term endeavor. Initially, it was merely a marketing strategy. However, as people began complimenting me on my appearance as a woman, I started to embrace the identity of Bobrisky,” he added.
Bobrisky also revealed that while he initially faced opposition from his parents, they eventually came to accept and support his decision to express his true self.
