An Edmonton man has been sentenced to 28 years in jail for attempting to shoot someone over a £3.50 drug debt.
Marcus Adepoju, 31, of Claremont Street, received his sentence at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, April 12. He was previously found guilty of numerous firearms and drug offenses after a trial at the same court concluded in February.
In April 2023, police responded to a call at a house on Nelgarde Road, Catford, where a man reported being shot at through a window by a masked assailant. Although the three shots narrowly missed him, they caused superficial wounds from glass shards and extensive property damage.
Following an investigation that included thorough CCTV analysis, detectives focused on a suspect seen walking from a house in Laleham Road, Hither Green, to the scene of the incident and then back again.
They observed Marcus Adepoju leaving the house and traveling to a nearby storage facility in Forest Hill. A subsequent search of the unit uncovered two firearms, ammunition, drugs, cash, and knives. Another storage unit linked to Adepoju contained additional ammunition, cash, and drugs.
During a car stop in Chingford, officers found Adepoju in possession of a bag containing keys for the Laleham Road house and the two storage units. Forensic analysis linked one of the seized guns to the shooting and another incident in March 2023 involving a bullet hole in a lorry in Forest Hill. Adepoju’s DNA was also found on both weapons, and his phone contained images of a third firearm.
Adepoju pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of a firearm, money laundering, and possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He was convicted of attempted murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life, and additional drug-related offenses.
Francis Ajeigbe, 60, who was arrested during a search of his Laleham Road residence, was found guilty of drug-related charges and money laundering. He received a suspended two-year prison sentence.
