‘Pregnancy before marriage,’ Ghanaian presidential aspirant imposes condition on suitors for his daughter

by Admin

Kofi Akpaloo, the founder and presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana, recently outlined a unique requirement for anyone wishing to marry his daughter.

In an interview with Accra-based Kingdom FM, as reported by GhanaWeb, Akpaloo stated that he would only agree to his daughter’s marriage if her suitor impregnates her first. He explained that this condition is intended to assess the man’s potency and commitment.

Akpaloo believes that a suitor’s ability to impregnate his daughter would demonstrate his seriousness and capability to care for her.

“For my daughter, you have to impregnate her before I give her to you for marriage. I cannot make her go through the struggles with childbirth, so I will gauge your seriousness as a man only when you impregnate her,” Akpaloo was quoted by GhanaWeb.

He further expressed his preference for his daughter to get pregnant and give birth before marriage, stating, “Fact is, I will even want her to get pregnant and give birth before she is given out to the man for marriage.”

Akpaloo clarified that this is his personal philosophy and not a standard he expects others to follow.

Additionally, he shared his views on marriage, stating that a man should be married by the age of 27. “At age 27, you should be settled with the woman you want to marry and start making children. What happens is that if you can marry at 27, you can plan your life better,” he said. He added that delaying marriage could result in taking care of young children during retirement, which he believes should be avoided.

Akpaloo also remarked that having a woman in a man’s life can sharpen his focus and motivate him to work harder to provide for his family.
