The Kremlin confirmed on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump are scheduled to speak by phone on Tuesday.
Earlier, Trump told reporters that significant progress had been made between the two sides regarding the Ukraine conflict and that he would be speaking with Putin.
“That is indeed the case. There is such a conversation being prepared for Tuesday,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, including AFP, without disclosing the topics to be discussed.
Last week, Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, traveled to Moscow to present details of a joint US-Ukrainian ceasefire plan, which includes a 30-day pause in hostilities.

Putin expressed support for the idea of a ceasefire but noted “serious questions” about its implementation, which he aimed to discuss with Trump.
