American-Nigerian singer Collins Obinna Chibueze, better known as Shaboozey, has secured two nominations at the 2024 Country Music Awards.

Shaboozey is up for New Artist of the Year, while his chart-topping hit, “Tipsy (A Bar Song),” has been nominated for Single of the Year.

“Tipsy” has matched Beyoncé’s U.S. Billboard Hot 100 record and is now officially the most streamed song in the U.S. in 2024, according to music monitoring platform Chart Data. The track has already garnered over 700 million streams on Spotify alone.

The song also surpassed Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” and Benson Boone’s “Beautiful Things” to become the best-selling song in America this year.

Celebrating his achievement on X on Monday night, September 9, Shaboozey mentioned that he sang about winning a CMA back in 2016. He also expressed sympathy for Beyoncé, who didn’t receive any nominations despite her U.S. chart-topping country album.

He wrote, “Wrote a song about winning a CMA in 2016, and now I’m nominated for 2! Thank you @CountryMusic and congrats to the other nominees. What an honor would be an understatement. #CMAawards”
