American rapper Lil Wayne has said that not being chosen as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show broke him.
Nicki Minaj and some fans have criticised Jay-Z, who was responsible for selecting the headliner, for choosing Kendrick Lamar instead of Wayne.
In a video message that went viral on Friday, Lil Wayne expressed his disappointment, stating that he blames himself for not being mentally prepared for the letdown.
Wayne noted that it would have been a tremendous honour to headline the 2025 Super Bowl in his hometown of New Orleans and added that he’s working to move on from the disappointment.
“That hurt a lot. I blame myself for not being mentally prepared for a letdown. I thought there was nothing better than that stage in my city… It broke me and I’m just trying to put me back together,” he said.
