Ayra Starr has become the first Nigerian female artist to surpass 1 billion views on YouTube.
She has now overtaken Yemi Alade’s record of 805 million views, previously the highest for a Nigerian female artist on the platform.
Leading her chart-topping numbers is the Grammy-nominated hit Rush, which alone has garnered over 450 million views.
With this milestone, Ayra Starr joins the ranks of Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Flavour, Ckay, Kizz Daniel, P-Square, Omah Lay, Fireboy, and Tekno — Nigerian artists who have also crossed the 1 billion YouTube views mark.
