The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has sent a team of technical specialists to the three host countries of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations to carry out detailed inspections of stadiums and related facilities. The assessment tour, which began this week, will run until Tuesday, February 17.
The experts will examine pitch quality, safety measures, security arrangements, and overall infrastructure at selected match venues and training grounds. According to CAF, the exercise forms part of broader efforts to elevate standards both on and off the pitch and strengthen AFCON’s reputation among the world’s top football tournaments.
The inspection programme will begin in Tanzania, covering venues in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, and Zanzibar. In Kenya, the delegation will assess stadiums in Nairobi, including Kasarani Stadium, Nyayo Stadium, and Talanta Sports Stadium, alongside training facilities such as the Ulinzi Sports Complex and the Kenya Academy of Sports.
In Uganda, the team will visit Entebbe and Kampala to inspect Mandela National Stadium and other training sites, before heading to Hoima to evaluate Hoima City Stadium.
CAF officials emphasised that the inspections are essential to ensure the host nations meet all organisational and technical requirements needed to successfully stage AFCON 2027.
