Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembélé was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year on Sunday, following a stellar season that saw him lead PSG to their 13th French league title and a place in the Champions League final.
Dembélé finished as the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 21 goals and tallied 33 in 46 appearances across all competitions, including eight goals in Europe. He takes over the honour from Kylian Mbappé, who had won the award five consecutive times before his move to Real Madrid last season.
At the UNFP (French players’ union) Trophies gala, PSG boss Luis Enrique was also recognised, receiving the Coach of the Year award. Rennes midfielder Désiré Doué was named the league’s Best Young Player.
Lille’s Lucas Chevalier broke PSG’s dominance by claiming the Best Goalkeeper award, edging out Gianluigi Donnarumma.
PSG are still chasing a treble, having already secured their 11th Ligue 1 title in the past 13 years. They’ll face Reims in the French Cup final and Inter Milan in the Champions League final on May 31.
