The NFF executive committee has finally accepted the resignation of Finidi George as the Super Eagles coach.
Initially, the NFF refused to accept the resignation because Finidi’s letter was unsigned. However, the signed resignation notice has now been made available to all members of the executive committee, allowing the coach to have his wish. An official statement to this effect was expected after the Sallah holidays, according to ScoreNigeria.com.
Finidi resigned following the NFF’s decision to appoint a foreign technical adviser to oversee the team. In his letter to NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, he stated that in light of the changes to the Super Eagles technical crew, which he headed and included several persons he handpicked, he has chosen to step down as head coach.
The NFF has announced plans to hire a new coach before the 2025 AFCON qualifiers begin in the first week of September.
