Nigerian Boxer Isaiah Olugbemi Killed in US Shooting.

by Admin

Nigerian-born aspiring professional boxer Isaiah Oludayo Olugbemi has tragically passed away in Maryland, USA, after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, as confirmed by local authorities.

Olugbemi was found with gunshot injuries near Meadowmist Way and Stehlik Drive and was declared deceased upon arrival at Shock Trauma in Baltimore.

Aged 27, Olugbemi had been honing his skills at a gym in Anne Arundel County with hopes of transitioning to the professional boxing scene by the end of the year. He made significant strides in his training, culminating in a national Golden Gloves Championship victory in just three years, a feat that was highly praised by his gym owner Christen Jeter, who expressed profound sorrow at the loss.

Nicholas Francis Xavier Giroux, 36, has been arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder in connection with the tragic death of Olugbemi.

Police suspect that the attack on Olugbemi was deliberate rather than random, basing their assessment on surveillance video where Giroux can be seen approaching Olugbemi with a handgun, firing multiple shots, and then fleeing the scene on foot.

Giroux, who reportedly lived near Olugbemi, had previously threatened him with a gun earlier this year, as mentioned by Olugbemi’s brother Abraham. However, no legal action was taken in those instances, as per Maryland court records.

Despite the unfortunate turn of events, Olugbemi had been achieving notable milestones in his career, such as winning an amateur fight following his National Golden Gloves victory in Washington D.C. in May.

Recognized as a mentor and role model at his gym, Olugbemi was admired for his inspiration to younger athletes and his close-knit group of friends valued his commitment and accomplishments.

In light of this tragic occurrence, the police are requesting local residents with private surveillance or doorbell cameras to provide any footage that could assist in the investigation.
