Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala has revealed that Real Madrid defender Antonio Rüdiger is the toughest player he has come up against in his career so far.
Musiala and Rüdiger are teammates for the German national team but found themselves on opposite sides during a UEFA Champions League clash between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Speaking to The Athletic, Musiala, who is currently recovering from an ankle injury sustained against Paris Saint-Germain during the Club World Cup, said:
“Antonio Rüdiger. We played against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and that was quite tough. I’ve known him for quite a few years, and yeah, it’s not nice playing against him.”
Rüdiger, who joined Real Madrid from Chelsea, has been a solid presence in the Spanish side’s defence. However, he was unable to prevent Xabi Alonso’s team from being eliminated by PSG in the recent Club World Cup.
