Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen recently delighted Galatasaray supporters with a heartfelt gesture while emphasising the role of team chemistry in his remarkable form.
In a video shared on Facebook, Osimhen was seen interacting with young Galatasaray fans after his team’s dominant 4-0 win over Antalyaspor. The Nigerian forward stepped in when a security guard attempted to remove a child who wanted to meet him, urging the guard to allow the fan to approach. He then calmed the child down and even welcomed more young fans with warm embraces.
In a particularly touching moment, when one supporter asked for his jacket, Osimhen immediately took it off and gifted it to the thrilled fan, earning praise from onlookers. Another fan jokingly requested his shirt, and Osimhen playfully considered removing it, drawing laughter from the crowd.
Following his sensational hat-trick in the match, Osimhen credited his success to the strong bond within the squad.
“A big congratulations to the team and our fans—we deserved this win and did a great job,” he said.
“Baris (Yilmaz) has been incredible, making us feel valued in recent matches. Yunus (Akgün) is back, and he’s a crucial player for us. We’ll work hard to build on this result in the coming games. Our team is built on love—we are brothers on and off the field.”
The 26-year-old has been in outstanding form, netting 26 goals and providing 5 assists across all competitions this season. His hat-trick against Antalyaspor propelled him to the top of the Turkish Super Lig scoring chart with 20 goals, surpassing Krzysztof Piatek (18). The victory also extended Galatasaray’s lead to 10 points over Fenerbahce, who have played two games fewer.
Osimhen’s red-hot form is a major boost for the Super Eagles as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.
“You have to give everything; you know it’s a dream of every youngster to be at the World Cup. Mine is no exception,” he said.
“I want to be there just like every one of my teammates, and we are really looking forward to the game against Rwanda and Zimbabwe to try and correct all the mistakes we have made in the past. So, we will be ready.”
Nigeria will face Rwanda in Kigali on March 21 and Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on March 25 as they look to revive their World Cup qualifying campaign under new coach Eric Chelle.
