Victor Osimhen has opened up about his final months at Napoli, alleging he was treated unfairly despite playing a major role in the club’s success.
The striker was instrumental in Napoli’s historic 2022/23 Serie A title win under Luciano Spalletti, finishing as the league’s top scorer and helping secure their first championship in more than 30 years. However, his form dipped the following season amid uncertainty surrounding his future.
Although he signed a contract extension in December 2023, Osimhen claimed there had been a prior agreement allowing him to leave the next summer — a promise he says was not fully honoured.
He stated that attempts were made to steer him toward certain destinations, but he refused to be pressured after the sacrifices he made to build his career.
The Nigeria international eventually sealed a €75 million permanent move to Galatasaray S.K. following an initial loan spell.
Osimhen also revealed that Juventus F.C. showed strong interest in signing him in 2024, confirming he held discussions with representatives of the club but believed Napoli’s president would not have sanctioned the transfer.
Now in Turkey, he has become a key figure for Galatasaray, recording 15 goals and three assists in 22 appearances as the team chase a fourth consecutive league title.
