Victor Osimhen made an immediate impact in the Turkish Super Lig, setting a record with seven shots on goal during his debut for Galatasaray in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Rizespor.
After missing out on moves to Chelsea and Al Ahly during the summer transfer window, the 25-year-old forward showed his mettle with a standout performance. He provided an assist in the Game Week 5 fixture at RAMS Park in Istanbul, contributing to goals by Davinson Sánchez, Abdülkerim Bardakcı, Gabriel Sara, Dries Mertens, and Baris Yılmaz.
Starting in the lineup, Osimhen’s presence and movement troubled the Rizespor defence. He nearly scored with a powerful header, but his effort was converted into an assist by Bardakcı.
Osimhen completed eight of nine passes, creating two scoring opportunities, and was active with one shot on target, two off target, and four blocked. He excelled in duels, winning three aerial and three ground battles, and completed all his dribbling attempts.
Although he missed a significant chance to score, Osimhen’s debut performance displayed his physicality, technical skill, and playmaking ability. As Galatasaray aims to defend their title, Osimhen’s strong start promises a successful season ahead.
