Chelsea has officially announced the signing of Portugal international Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In a statement released on the club’s website on Sunday, Chelsea confirmed that Pedro has signed a seven-year contract and will begin training with his new teammates at Cobham in the coming days.
“I’m really grateful to have joined this club. I’ve worked hard in my career to reach this point, and I’m excited to get on the pitch wearing this shirt,” said the 24-year-old.
Pedro Neto began his career in the youth system of Braga, where he first showcased his talent by making his first-team debut in May 2017, scoring in a 4-0 victory over Nacional.
Chelsea’s statement added, “At 17 years, two months, and five days, he became the third-youngest scorer in Braga’s history.
“He then spent two years on loan at Italian giants Lazio, where he won the Coppa Italia. The move was made permanent before the 2018/19 season, and in August 2019, Pedro transferred to Wolves.
“He made an immediate impact by scoring and assisting on his debut – a 4-0 win over Pyunik in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds – and quickly became a regular in the Wolves attack.
“Pedro went on to make 135 appearances for the club, contributing 11 goals in 20 appearances last season.
“He also established himself as a regular in the Portugal squad during his time at Molineux, earning ten caps, the latest of which came during this summer’s European Championship. Welcome to Chelsea, Pedro!”
