Saudi government set to fund Osimhen’s transfer to Al Hilal

by Admin

The Saudi Arabian government is reportedly preparing to provide the financial backing needed for Al-Hilal to complete the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in a deal valued at up to €50 million.

According to Sky Sports Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Osimhen is currently in advanced negotiations with Al-Hilal president Fahad bin Nafel. The 26-year-old is close to agreeing personal terms, which would see him earn up to €17.5 million per year, including bonuses.

However, the finalisation of the transfer depends on approval from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Sports. The ministry’s ‘financial viability’ committee has not yet authorised the release of the necessary government funds to complete the transaction.

Tavolieri explained, “While personal terms are nearly agreed upon, Al-Hilal cannot proceed until the Saudi government releases the expected funds. Without approval from the Ministry of Sports’ financial committee, the club cannot move forward with formal negotiations with Napoli.”

Despite the hold-up, all parties are optimistic the deal will go through, especially as Osimhen has personally expressed his interest in joining the Saudi Pro League champions.

If the move is completed, Osimhen will sign a three-year contract with Al-Hilal. The shift in direction marks a turning point in the striker’s summer transfer saga, with Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United previously showing interest but reportedly being put off by his wage demands.

Reports from Foot Mercato suggest that Osimhen entered talks with Al-Hilal after becoming frustrated with Manchester United’s lack of serious pursuit.

Osimhen remains under contract with Napoli until 2026, though the club retains the option to extend it to 2027. Nevertheless, the striker’s strong desire for a permanent exit, combined with Al-Hilal’s financial power and government support, makes a summer move highly likely.
