The list of the top 10 universities in Africa for 2024, ranked by EduRank, a prominent source for social media analytics in the education sector, has been unveiled, with no Nigerian university making the cut.
According to the organization’s website, the ranking was determined based on research outputs, non-academic prominence, and alumni influence, analyzing 24.5 million citations from 2.16 million academic publications across 1,104 African universities.
EduRank conducts comprehensive statistical analyses to produce comparative university rankings across various fields, countries, regions, and globally.
In the 2024 rankings, Nigerian universities failed to secure a spot in the top 10. The University of Ibadan (UI) is the highest-ranked Nigerian institution, holding the 13th position in Africa and 1057th globally.
Out of the top 10 universities in Africa, seven are located in South Africa, one in Egypt, one in Uganda, and one in Kenya.
