Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has assured fans that the Super Eagles are fully prepared for Saturday’s must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Nigeria’s qualification hopes remain slim after securing just one win in six matches. The three-time African champions sit fourth in Group C with seven points, six adrift of leaders South Africa. With only the group winner guaranteed a World Cup spot, the clash against Rwanda is seen as crucial.
“The mood in camp is good. Everyone is feeling positive and optimistic. We are all looking forward to the game,” Iwobi said. “Hopefully we can prepare well and get the result we want. After that, we can think about the game against South Africa which is also very important.”
Rwanda, coached by Eric Chelle, are currently above Nigeria in the standings and will be aiming to build on that advantage. A win for the Amavubi would deal a heavy blow to Nigeria’s chances, while a victory for the Super Eagles would revive their push ahead of the decisive showdown with South Africa.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. local time in Uyo.
