2027: Peter Obi confirms no merger deal with PDP or NNPP yet.

by Admin

Ahead of the 2027 election, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, has confirmed that there is no merger deal in place with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), or any other party.

Obi made this announcement during a press conference in Abuja on Thursday morning, January 2. The former Anambra State governor emphasized that no agreements have been made with other parties. He urged Nigerians in the political sphere to unite in 2027 to defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he accused of mismanaging the country’s resources.

Obi also addressed the country’s security situation, describing it as tragic, with Nigerians dying unnecessarily due to banditry, terrorism, and kidnapping-for-ransom.

He criticized the high level of corruption in Nigeria and pointed to the rising cost of governance, which has led to a significant increase in public debt under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Obi also called out government officials for the reckless mismanagement of public funds in 2024, citing frequent foreign travels as an example.

In the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu secured victory in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states, amassing 8,794,726 votes—nearly two million more than his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, who garnered 6,984,520 votes. Obi, a first-time presidential candidate, achieved an impressive 6,101,533 votes.
