US excludes UK, Nigeria, and other African countries from visa-free entry for 2025

by Admin

The United States has released the list of eligible countries for its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme, excluding Nigeria and other African nations amid President Donald Trump’s mass deportation efforts.

While 40 countries—including European, Asian, and select Middle Eastern nations—secured visa-free entry into the US, no African nation was included as new policy updates were introduced regarding permit eligibility.

Major US allies, including the United Kingdom, were also left out, though British citizens remain eligible under specific conditions.

According to the US Bureau of Consular Affairs, the Visa Waiver Programme allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the US for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa.

The agency stated: “Travellers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel and meet all requirements explained below. If you prefer to have a visa in your passport, you may still apply for a visitor visa.”

Instead of undergoing the traditional visa application process, eligible travellers can apply for ESTA before departure, streamlining entry into the US.
