A homegrown Hollywood actor, Val Kilmer, has passed away, his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed on Tuesday night.
The actor died in Los Angeles at the age of 65 on Tuesday after a prolonged battle with pneumonia, according to The New York Times.
Kilmer rose to fame with Top Gun and was widely recognized for his roles as Jim Morrison in The Doors, Doc Holliday in Tombstone, and Batman in Batman Forever.
He also starred in Heat (1995), The Saint (1997), Willow (1988), and more recently, Top Gun: Maverick.
One of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the 1990s, Kilmer’s career was later impacted by conflicts with directors and co-stars, as well as a series of box office disappointments.
Over the years, he developed a reputation for being intense, perfectionistic, and sometimes difficult to work with.
According to his daughter, Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 but later recovered.
