Brentford FC forward Igor Thiago has been crowned Premier League Player of the Month for January after a sensational run of form.
The 24-year-old struck five goals across just two matches — netting a stunning hat-trick in a 4–2 victory away to Everton FC, before firing a brace in a 3–0 win over Sunderland AFC at the Gtech Community Stadium.
His opener against Sunderland saw him equal the long-standing record of 15 Premier League goals in a single season by a Brazilian, previously shared by Matheus Cunha (2024/25, Wolverhampton Wanderers FC), Gabriel Martinelli (2022/23, Arsenal FC) and Roberto Firmino (2017/18, Liverpool FC).
Thiago’s second strike of the night lifted him to 16 goals, making him the outright Brazilian record holder in a single Premier League campaign.
He beat competition from Yasin Ayari (Brighton & Hove Albion FC), Patrick Dorgu (Manchester United FC), Enzo Fernández (Chelsea FC), Junior Kroupi (AFC Bournemouth), Crysencio Summerville (West Ham United FC), Harry Wilson (Fulham FC) and Florian Wirtz (Liverpool FC).
Reacting to the honour, Thiago described the award as “an amazing feeling,” revealing he was told he is the first Brentford player to win the trophy.
He added that he is delighted to have claimed the accolade twice and hopes to secure more in the future, while also thanking the club’s staff and teammates for their support and contribution to his performances on the pitch.
