My name is Esenam ADETUNJI. I am originally from Togo and have been living in Finland for the past 9 years. I’m obsessed with good products, super foods and everything that is good and healthy. I am passionate about beauty and wellness in general. I am a beauty entrepreneur and a professional Aesthetician based in Finland. I studied Aesthetics at OulunKosmetologikoulu and currently, I’m pursuing a degree program in International Business at Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OAMK)
When did you establish Beauty By Esse?
In 2015 I founded a company called Black and Pretty, however, during the passage of time my vision for the business expanded; so, in 2018 the name transformed to Beauty By Esse. So let me say BeautybyEsse was established in 2018.
As a skincare expert, could you share some tips to a glowing skin?
First of all, achieving a glowing skin starts with healthy living lifestyle, because whatever is going on inside your body will reflect outside. Healthy food, good sleep, workout, not to mention good water consumption then last but not the least a good skin care routine. In addition, it is good to have the 3 basics of a routine which are cleanser, moisturiser, and a sunscreen. It’s also necessary to exfoliate one to three times a week.
If you observe these routines religiously it is almost impossible for your skin not to glow.

Tell us about Oulu, what’s happening over there?
Oulu is a home for me, small but not too small city, super clean with good biking roads, beautiful parks, and lakes. It’s a university city, because the city gets lively when the university is in session and furthermore it is a city with a good ecosystem of start-up companies. I like the city. I feel it is a good place to have a family and build a healthy lifestyle.
What’s the best way to treat a dark spots?
Dark spot treatment is one of the most asked question. When it comes to dark spot, the most important thing is prevention. Avoid too long sun exposure, don’t press your pimples, and apply a sunscreen (of at least 30 spf) regularly… After that comes treatment, applying serum that can help fade them over time, although it’s almost impossible to totally get rid of them. Overall, it is important to have a good skin care regiment with the basics that I mentioned earlier and then build on from there.

Are there challenges you have encountered in your online business?
Yes, I’ve experienced some challenges. For instance, there is the challenge reaching the right customers. Even though, the online business resents the opportunity of reaching a wide pool of people but reaching the right customer and followers is a big task. Another challenge I face, is setting yourself apart from the crowd. Online business is a space where so many people trade mostly doing something similar but what is important is making sure you set a quality standard and gain the trust of your followers and customers
What advise do you have for anyone who wants to go into online business?
If I should give any advice is that to start a business, there is no need to know it all. You need to start and be ready to learn and put in the work. Persistency and consistency are two important things in business as things don’t just happen overnight.
And like the proverbial saying, where there is a will, there is a way.
Lastly entrepreneurship is a very rewarding journey, and I would never trade it for anything.
