Stonebwoy wins the Best African Dancehall Award at IRWMA.

Ghanaian sensation Stonebwoy claimed the esteemed title of Best African Dancehall Entertainer at the 2024 International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRWMA). The 41st edition of IRWMA was held at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center in Fort Lauderdale on March 22nd, 2024. This significant event not only celebrated exceptional talent but also emphasized the importance of health awareness.

Moreover, Nigerian superstar Wizkid emerged triumphant in the Best Afrobeat Entertainer category, while Burna Boy clinched three prestigious awards. Burna Boy’s victories encompassed the categories of Best African Entertainer, Best Music Video, and Best Crossover Song for “Talibans II.” Additionally, Sean Paul secured the distinguished Emperor of Reggae & World Music accolade.

Stonebwoy stepped into the spotlight as the featured guest on this week’s episode of African Voices Changemakers by CNN.

Livingstone Etse Satekla, widely recognized as Stonebwoy, graced the program, produced by Cable News Network (CNN) with support from the telecommunications giant Globacom.

Hosted by Larry Madowo, the 30-minute segment delved deep into Stonebwoy’s achievements and his impact across Africa through his music, blending Afropop, dancehall, and reggae genres seamlessly.

Stonebwoy underscored his use of music as a storytelling tool and highlighted the eclectic mix of genres in his musical repertoire. His appearance on African Voices Changemakers showcased his profound influence on the music scene and his role as a cultural influencer in Africa.

In his interview, Stonebwoy remarked, “I think this is the calling so anytime I am able to perform and reach out to the masses I’m always grateful. Music has always been there before anything. The styles of music from Reggae to dancehall music to African music. I came up into the game trying to unite the sounds. So when you pick up a typical Stonebwoy record you have a feel of afro dancehall reggae music.”
