by Admin

A 55-year-old Chinese citizen, Dai Pengfei, has been sentenced to 30 days in jail for operating a drone without a valid license. Pengfei was brought before the Masvingo Magistrates’ Court on charges of unauthorized drone use.

The incident took place on August 9, 2024, at Nyika Growth Point in Bikita, where Pengfei was observed by police officers flying a drone approximately 15-20 meters above the rooftops. Upon being asked to present a permit authorizing the drone’s operation, Pengfei failed to produce one, resulting in his immediate arrest.

The court ultimately sentenced Pengfei to a fine of US$200 or 30 days in prison.
