Authorities in Arizona have arrested 66-year-old Ronald Syvrud for allegedly threatening to kill former President Donald Trump on social media.
Ronald Lee Syvrud, of Cochise County, reportedly made death threats against Trump in social media posts over the past two weeks.
Syvrud was taken into custody without incident on Thursday, August 22, according to Carol Capas, spokeswoman for the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials had been searching for Syvrud, whom they identified as an “investigative lead for threats to kill a presidential candidate.”
Capas informed NewsNation that the threats against Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, were posted on social media.
The 66-year-old Syvrud has several outstanding warrants on separate charges, including DUI and failure to appear in court in Wisconsin. He is also wanted for failing to register as a sex offender and for a hit-and-run in Arizona.
The threats surfaced ahead of Trump’s visit to the U.S.-Mexico border in Cochise County on Thursday.
Authorities were unable to locate Syvrud at his home when they attempted to arrest him on Wednesday evening, Capas confirmed.
The threats follow just six weeks after Trump survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
