Anthony Joshua’s promoter has identified three potential contenders that the esteemed British heavyweight might face next, aiming to recover from his surprising defeat by Daniel Dubois. The bout took place at Wembley Stadium on a recent Saturday evening, where Joshua contested for the IBF heavyweight title against his compatriot Dubois and was defeated by knockout in the fifth round, witnessed by a crowd of 96,000.
Despite the setback, the two-time heavyweight champion has dismissed any talk of retirement following the loss. His promoter, Eddie Hearn, has promptly begun formulating a list of possible opponents for Joshua’s anticipated return to the ring.
In a conversation with iFLTV, Hearn disclosed that Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder, and a rematch with Dubois are all being considered as potential matches.
While initially asserting in a post-match interview that Joshua had a rematch clause to face Dubois again, Hearn has since clarified that no such clause exists. Instead, Joshua has one remaining fight under his contract with ‘Riyadh Season,’ which could potentially be arranged against Dubois.
