Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s star striker, has extended his stay at the club with a new 10-year contract that will keep him at City until the summer of 2034, the club confirmed on Friday.
The 24-year-old Norwegian, who joined from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, has been central to City’s recent triumphs. His previous deal was set to expire in 2027, but the new contract underscores the club’s trust in Haaland as a key player for their future.
“I’m really happy to have signed my new contract and look forward to spending more time at this great club,” Haaland said. “Manchester City is a special place, with fantastic people and supporters who help bring out the best in everyone. I’m excited to continue growing here.”
Haaland also expressed gratitude to his teammates, manager Pep Guardiola, and the staff, adding, “They’ve made this place special, and now I am City for life. I want to keep developing and help us achieve more success.”
Since his arrival, Haaland has been nothing short of sensational. In his debut 2022/23 season, he scored 52 goals across all competitions, setting a Premier League record. His goals were crucial in City’s historic treble-winning season, which included the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League titles.
In addition to team success, Haaland earned several individual awards in his first season, including PFA Player of the Year, Premier League Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year.
Despite a two-month injury layoff in the 2023/24 season, Haaland maintained his prolific form, netting 38 goals in 45 appearances, including 27 in the Premier League, and claimed his second consecutive Golden Boot.
City’s Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, praised Haaland’s long-term commitment: “We are thrilled that Erling has signed this contract. It reflects both his love for the club and our commitment to him. His records speak for themselves, but it’s his professionalism, dedication, and humility that set him apart. With hard work, Erling will create a lasting legacy here.”
With 21 goals in the current 2024/25 season, Haaland has scored 111 goals in 126 appearances for the club, rapidly climbing to 15th on City’s all-time scoring list. In September, he became the 19th player in City’s history to reach 100 goals.
