British-Nigerian woman, Chi Onwurah wins Newcastle seat in UK election.

British-Nigerian woman Chi Onwurah has won a seat in the UK Parliament following the Parliamentary elections on Thursday night, July 4th.

Onwurah, originally from Anambra State, represented the UK’s Labour Party and secured victory in the Newcastle upon Tyne Central and West constituency, surpassing six other candidates for the position.

She got over 18,000 votes with her closest challenger, Ashton Muncaster of the Reform party getting 7815 votes.
